The Río Tercero or Río Ctalamochita is a river in the province of Córdoba , Argentina .
Its sources are in the Sierras de Córdoba south of the Cerro Champaquí . It flows continuously in an easterly or south-easterly direction. The Río Cuarto flows into the Tercero near Cruz Alta . In the province of Santa Fe , the Tercero is known as the Río Carcarañá .
The following dams and hydroelectric power stations are located on its upper reaches: Río Tercero (Fitz Simon), Segunda Usina (Cassafousth), Tercera Usina (Reolín) and Piedras Moras . The Río Grande pumped storage power plant with the two reservoirs Cerro Pelado and Arroyo Corto is located on the Río Grande , one of several source rivers of the Tercero.
The catchment area of the Río Tercero is around 2500 km².
