The Rio Juruá , in the Peruvian upper reaches Río Yurúa , is a 3283 km long right tributary of the Amazon in Peru and Brazil .
River course
The river has its source in the mountains of the Peruvian region of Ucayali, southeast of Puerto Portillo, and flows from there in a northwest direction. At Foz do Breu, the extremely winding river crosses the border to Brazil and flows initially in a northerly and then - parallel to the Purus - in a northeastern direction through the federal state of Amazonas . The municipality of the same name Juruá is located there on the river.
The Rio Juruá is navigable for a total of 1823 kilometers.
