location

The Römerloch is located on the southeast slope of the Kugelstein, about 30 meters northeast of the five- window grotto and west of the beech cave in a forest slope. The main entrance to the cave is a little to the west above another entrance.

description

The approximately 18 meter long Roman hole has five entrances or day openings, and there are signs that the cave is crumbling. From the main entrance a 7 meter long corridor leads to another opening that leads to the outside. The same corridor has a daytime opening after about 3.5 meters, which can be attributed to a ceiling collapse. On both sides of the corridor there is a short silt section , which both also lead to other small day openings. The rock above the cave ceiling is only about 1.5 meters thick to the surface.

The rocky cave floor is covered in some places by a thin layer of humus and, above all, blocks of debris.
