Ruben Scarpatti

Rúben Scarpatti , also known as Rúben Scarpati , (born March 30, 1972 ) is a former Uruguayan rower and today's rowing trainer.

Rúben Scarpatti participated with the Uruguayan team in a total of four Pan-American Games . He was part of the squad in 1991 , 1995 and 1999 . In these three participations, however, he was denied winning a medal. In 2002 he was Uruguayan champion in two without a helmsman in the boat with Norberto Alvarez . In the same year he won silver in a four-man at the South American Games in Brazil in 2002 and again, together with Norberto Alvarez, bronze in a two-man without a helmsman. It was not until his last Pan American Games in 2003 that he rowed a place on the podium there. In Santo Domingo he won the silver medal in a four-man team with Leandro Salvagno , Oscar Medina and Rodolfo Collazo .

Scarpatti also took part in rowing world championships four times. In 1990 he started in the boat class four without a helmsman at the Junior World Championships in rowing , where the team made it to the finals and achieved a 5th place. In the following year he and two teammates from 1990 and a new team member at the Match des Seniors , the then unofficial U23 World Championships, also finished fifth in the four-without. Scarpatti took part twice in the world championships for the open age group. He reached 17th place in the four-without at the 1999 event in Canada and also 17th in the double -fours at the 2003 World Cup in Italy.

He has been the national coach of the Uruguayan rowing team since at least 2005. He still held this position in 2013.
