Rüdiger Gotze

Rüdiger Götze (born June 2, 1942 in Erfurt ; † August 3, 2017 ) was a German theater actor and director. From 1988 to 1991 he was director of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau .

Live and act

After training as an electrical installer, Götze, who came from a family of artists, initially worked as a theater lighting technician and then studied acting. He had his first engagements on stages in Greifswald and Berlin . From 1975 to 1982 Götze belonged to the ensemble of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau, after which he moved to the Theater Magdeburg . In 1984 Götze returned to the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau and was director of the Zittau house.

After the separation of the Zittau and Görlitzer theaters, Götze became director of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater in Zittau in 1988. After the fall of the Wall in September 1990, Götze was one of the initiators of the foundation of the Friends of the Zittauer Theater eV, together with superintendent Dietrich Mendt. In 1991, Götze was replaced as director by Manfred Haacke. Until 1997 Götze worked as an actor and director at the Zittau Theater.

After his contract was not extended in 1997 by the new artistic director Klaus Stephan, Götze worked as a freelance actor in Berlin, Schwerin , Frankfurt (Oder) , Schwedt, Cottbus , Rostock , Reutlingen and Stuttgart .

Götze has been on stage in over 250 roles since 1963 and directed around 40 times. Among his most important roles at the Zittau Theater were Emanuel Striese in The Robbery of the Sabine Women and Heinrich Faust in Urfaust . In addition, Götze also took on some film roles. In 1973 he was the wise Susanne to see in 1975 he played the Rudi Semmler in Police 110: The bill does not address and 2003 in two episodes of Berlin Bohème the Otto Eckert . Götze embodied his last film role in 2015 under the direction of Rosa von Praunheim as Grandpa in Hardness .

The Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau, where he was engaged for 22 years, made him an honorary member because of his longstanding services. In 2015 Götze received honorary membership on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Friends of Zittauer Theaters eV.

Götze was widowed last and lived in Cottbus.
