Rudiger Stutz

Rüdiger Stutz (* 1957 in Bernburg (Saale) ) is a German historian with a focus on regional economic and social history as well as university history.

life and work

Stutz made his Abitur in 1975 at the Extended High School in Bernburg. Until 1975 he then did his military service with the NVA . After studying history and German at the University of Jena (Diploma 1981), Stutz stayed as a research student in Jena and at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR in East Berlin in 1981 . In Jena, he was with a thesis on the "political development in 1985 Eduard Stadtler (1918-1933)" doctorate . Between 1984 and 1992 Stutz was a research assistant at the History Section and at the Historical Institute in Jena, which was newly founded in 1990/91. Until 1993 he worked for the Association for the City, University and Student History of Jenas (today Association for the University and City History of Jenas eV). Since 1993 he has been a research assistant at the chair for modern and contemporary history and since 2001 in the special research area 580 of the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Stutz has been the city historian of the city of Jena since 2008 .
