The Rēzekne is a river in eastern Latvia .
The origin is the Rāzna Lake , which is regulated by locks . The tributaries on the upper reaches mainly come from lakes. In the middle part to the town of Rēzekne the valley is deeper. The lower course was regulated by dams. Since the neighboring river Malta was diverted by the Rēzekne via a canal shortly before it flows into Lake Lubān (1966), its catchment area has statistically doubled.
The picturesque river, rich in fish, is navigable along its entire length by boats and canoes.
