Rūta Irbe Tropa (born August 21, 1992 ) is a former Latvian grass and alpine skier . She took part in the 2008 and 2009 grass ski junior world championships and in the 2009 season in two grass ski world cup races. In alpine skiing, she took part in FIS races from 2007 to 2009 as well as the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2009 .

Career

Tropa's first major international event was the 2008 Grass Ski Junior World Championship in Rieden , Switzerland. She won the silver medal in the super combination, but only three runners were rated in this competition. In the Super-G and in the slalom she finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the giant slalom she was eliminated in the first round. In July 2009 Tropa took part in two Grass Ski World Cup slaloms in the Czech town of Čenkovice . In the first she was eliminated, in the second she finished as the last of the rated runners in tenth place, with which she won her first and only World Cup points. In the overall standings for the 2009 season , she finished 20th and last, tied with Iranian Samira Zargari . At the 2009 Grass Ski Junior World Championships in Horní Lhota u Ostravy , she was seventh in the super-G and eighth in the super combined. In slalom and giant slalom, she did not finish. After 2009, she did not take part in any other grass ski competitions.

In winter, from the 2007/2008 season onwards, Tropa started in some FIS races in alpine skiing and was twice among the top 20. In February 2009, she took part in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Szczyrk , but only achieved a 57th place in slalom. In 2009 she also drove her last races in alpine skiing.
