The РА2 ( RA2 ) diesel multiple unit is a multiple unit created at the Mytishchi wagon factory in Mytishchi for the railways in the post-Soviet area, especially for fast suburban traffic on non-electrified broad - gauge lines in difficult climatic conditions. It also has the factory designation model 750 . The vehicles are used on the railways in Russia , Ukraine , Latvia and Mongolia .

history

The vehicle was created and delivered as the successor to the RŽD series РА1 . In contrast to this vehicle, the РА2 was created as a vehicle in association, it can be operated in the configuration of two, three and four vehicles. The РА2 was created for passenger transport on non-electrified sections with intensive passenger transport, it is also used for inner-city and interregional traffic. Outwardly, the vehicles are similar to the railcars of the Desiro brand . The biggest difference, however, is the body with corrugated sheet metal (but not on all vehicles!) And the arrangement of two bogies per car. The main arrangement of the РА2 is a three-part unit, whereby the vehicle, like the Desiro, consists of two motor-driven end cars and an additional non-powered intermediate car. The arrangement of motor vehicle + motor vehicle and motor vehicle + sidecar + sidecar + motor car is also possible. The multiple control enables the operation of two three-part tractions. The body of the vehicle is made entirely of metal with thermal insulation.

In the vestibules of the vehicles, there are doors as leaning sliding doors that can be operated individually using buttons. The car body is designed for exiting on platforms with high platforms. For platforms with low platforms, sliding steps make it easier for passengers to exit. Like the Siemens Desiro, the motor vehicles have an anteroom with a leaning sliding door on each side. There is also an ascent for the train driver. The sidecars have two entry areas at the ends of the car body.

The box is supported on two two-axle bogies, one of which is the drive bogie on the motor vehicle. A central pneumatic suspension has been implemented to increase the ease of travel. A gapless coupling device has been used between the cars, at the front end of the motor car there is an automatic central buffer coupling of the type SA-3 .

The vehicles are each powered by a Power Pack from MTU Friedrichshafen in the end car. This consists of a diesel engine with an output of 350 kW and a hydromechanical power transmission system from Voith . In addition, a generator module and an air compressor as well as cooling and damping systems are installed with this power pack. The power module and its operating systems are mounted under the car body floor. Fluorescent lamps are used for lighting in the passenger compartments and the vestibules . Toilets of a closed system are installed in the motor vehicles.
