Oscherelje ( Russian Ожере́лье , literally "necklace") is a district of Kaschira in Moscow Oblast in Russia . As an independent town, Oscherelje last had 10,469 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). The major railway junction is located in the south of the oblast, 125 km from Moscow and 10 km southeast of the old city center of Kashira.
history
Known as a village since 1578, Oscherelje became a station settlement in 1900 on the line from Moscow to Lipetsk and Pavelets built at the time . In the mid-1930s, a junction from the route towards Wenjow and Novomoskowsk was built near Oscherelje , so that Oscherelje became a railway junction. As a result, a larger locomotive depot and a railway technical school were built there.
In 1937 Oscherelje received the status of an urban-type settlement and in 1958 the city rights. On November 16, 2015, it was incorporated into Kaschira.

Economy and Transport
The importance of Oscherelje as a railway junction shapes its economy. There are direct train connections from the city's train station to the Paveletsky train station in Moscow, as well as to Kaschira , Domodedovo or Serebrjanyje Prudy , for example . The main road connection is the M6 trunk road leading to Astrakhan .
In addition to railway workshops, the town has a brick factory and farms.
