Rail One (spelling RAIL.ONE) is an internationally active producer of concrete sleepers and track systems for rail-bound long-distance and local transport. The group of companies has an international presence with production sites and companies. The group generates an average turnover of 120 million euros and employs over 650 people.

history

The company was founded in 1894 by Gustav Adolf Pfleiderer (GAP) as a timber and rafting company in Heilbronn am Neckar . In 1944, after the administration was relocated to Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz , the production of sawn timber, wooden sleepers and wooden poles began. In 1954, the production of prestressed concrete sleepers began .

In 1981 a majority stake in Katz Werke AG , Gernsbach (production of concrete sleepers) was established, while eleven years later the production facility in Coswig for the production of track and turnout sleepers was put into operation. In 1993 the company acquired the Lábatlan concrete plant (Hungary) with production facilities for track and turnout sleepers.

In 1994 - after a decision by DB AG to use the slab track type Rheda-Berlin on Berlin's light rail arches - concrete sleeper production began at the Travipos plant (Spain). In 1998 the company received an order for the delivery of more than 180,000 patented special sleepers for the new Cologne-Rhine / Main line . This was followed by the acquisition of the concrete sleeper activities of Wayss & Freytag AG as well as the takeover of the track sleeper plant in Frankfurt and the turnout sleeper plant in Langen (Hesse) . In 1999 the slab track system RHEDA 2000® was approved.

In 2001, the Frankfurt production facility was relocated to Langen with the construction of a new sleeper factory. In the same year, turnout sleeper production started in the Travipos plant (Spain) and concrete sleeper production started in Brașov (Romania). In 2002 Rail One received a share in the new construction of the HSL Zuid high-speed line in the Netherlands. One year later, an order followed for the participation in the construction of the new high-speed line in Taiwan (THSR) and the relocation of the production facility in Brașov to Buzău (Romania). After the start of the turnout sleeper production, it carried out the 2nd construction phase of the high-speed line Seoul - Busan in RHEDA 2000® in Korea. Furthermore, track sleepers were manufactured in Yang Mei Town (Taiwan) and turnout sleepers in Kirchmöser / Brandenburg.

In 2004, sleeper production in Yang Mei Town (Taiwan) was ended. At the same time, production in Buzău (Romania) and Lábatlan (Hungary) for the first section of the Ankara Railway Rehabilitation Project for 680,000 concrete sleepers was started. 2005 saw the construction of the delivery plant in Karlsruhe / Baden and the termination of sleeper production in Gernsbach.

In 2006 the contract for the transfer of know-how to China was signed. This was followed by the construction of a mobile production facility in Segovia / Madrid (Spain). The company received an order to produce around 100,000 two-block sleepers for the Guadarrama Tunnel project in Spain. In the same year the name was changed to Rail One GmbH .

In 2007, the Chinese subsidiary Beijing Rail One Pfleiderer track systems Technology Company Ltd. was founded. and the Korean subsidiary Rail One Korea Ltd.

After the company invented the award-winning folding switch threshold in 2009, it was taken over by the PCM Group of Industries in 2013.

In 2014 sleeper production started in Algeria and in the USA (Clinton) the group opened its first plant in North America.

In 2015, the company renamed Rail One GmbH. Since then, the group has been working under the umbrella of PCM Rail One AG and has an international presence with several production sites and subsidiaries. Today's Rail One GmbH is dedicated to the German market as part of the global PCM Rail One Group.

Since November 2015, the offices of PCM Rail One AG and the headquarters of the German subsidiary have been located in the Neuer Markt in Neumarkt.

In 2016, Rail One celebrates its tenth anniversary in the presence of the Indian shareholder and supervisory board chairman Kamal Kumar Mittal.

In 2017 PCM Rail One UK Limited is founded as a subsidiary in the United Kingdom.

In 2018, Rail One opened the new production plant in Aschaffenburg.

In 2019, a new plant for the production of end-anchored turnout sleepers made of prestressed concrete was opened in Schwandorf.

Products

The company manufactures rail-bound track systems in the field of long-distance and regional transport with ballasted superstructures (concrete sleeper B70, turnout sleepers, high-performance sleepers, wide sleepers and padded sleepers) and with slab tracks.

For local transport, Rail One offers systems with a ballasted track (TBS and LIS) as well as with a slab track.

The company locations in Germany include Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz (headquarters), Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz (production), Coswig , Kirchmöser and Aschaffenburg . There are also international locations in Romania ( Buzău ), Saudi Arabia , Spain (Constantí, Tarragona), South Korea ( Seoul ), Hungary (Lábatlan), UK , Turkey , the USA and India .
