RKS Radomsko was a Polish football club from Radomsko in the Łódź Voivodeship . The club played one season in the Ekstraklasa , the highest Polish league.

history

RKS Radomsko was founded on August 25, 1979. Until 1993 Radomsko only played in lower-class regional leagues, then they rose to the III league for the first time . In 1994 they made it to the 4th round of Puchar Polski , where they lost 0-1 to the first division club Ruch Chorzów . In the following year they rose to the II league for the first time . In the 1998/99 Cup Radomsko was able to defeat two first division teams with Wisła Krakau and Górnik Zabrze , but in the quarterfinals they failed again at Ruch Chorzów. The next season they were even more successful, with several victories over first division clubs Radomsko made it to the semifinals, where the club was eliminated by Amica Wronki .

Despite the downsizing of the II league for the 2000/01 season, the class was able to be maintained. In the next season, two game days before the end of the season, the first promotion to Poland's top division, the Ekstraklasa, was achieved . In the 2001/02 season , which was held in two groups, Radomsko played after a 6th place in the preliminary round against relegation. The direct relegation could be prevented, but Radomsko had to play relegation games against the third of the second division, Szczakowianka Jaworzno . After losing 2-0 away, the 1-0 win in the second leg at home was not enough and Radomsko had to relegate after only one season. In Puchar Ekstraklasy Radomsko was more successful, the club made it to the semifinals. There the club was eliminated against Legia Warsaw , the eventual winner. In the following season they clearly missed the promotion with an eighth place, but made it into the semi-finals of the Cup for the second time, where they were eliminated against Wisła Płock . In the following season they were also relegated from the II league.

After several relegations to the regional leagues, RKS Radomsko stopped playing in 2007. RKS Radomsko was founded as a successor in 1979 , but the club was dissolved again in 2009 after only two seasons in the lowest leagues.
