The RPG-43 (abbreviation for: ручная противотанковая граната; anti-tank hand grenade ) was a Soviet hand grenade for fighting tanks in World War II . It was introduced at the beginning of 1943 and worked according to the shaped charge principle.
description
The grenade was used against the armor of the tanks. The angle of impact on the armor had to be 90 °, a spring-loaded sheet metal cap on the handle was used for this purpose, which was ejected after throwing and stabilized the flight path. With a penetration rate of 75 mm armor steel , the RPG-43 could destroy all contemporary types of armor.
The RPG-43 was the successor to the RPG-40 and was later replaced by the RPG-6. The German counterpart was the anti-tank mine introduced in the same period .
