Raúl Curiel García (born December 6, 1995 in Ciudad Madero ) is a Mexican boxer .

Career

amateur

In the junior division (U19), Curiel won the silver medal in the lightweight (up to 60 kg) at the 2012 World Championships in Yerevan .

In his first participation in an international men's championship, Curiel won the bronze medal in the light welterweight division (up to 64 kg) at the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz . In the semifinals he was defeated by the Cuban Yasniel Toledo with 3-0 judges' votes. At the Pan American Games the following year, he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Joedison Teixeira, Brazil (3-0).

World Series of Boxing

In the 2013/14 season Curiel played his first fight for the Mexico Guerreros in the World Series of Boxing , which he lost to Lázaro Álvarez of the Cuba Domadores.

In the 2015 season, Curiel was used in all seven regular season bouts and won six. He finished second in the ranking of his weight class this season behind Yasniel Toledo and qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games . Curiel was also used in the quarterfinals of the playoffs against the Azerbaijan Baku Fires and was also able to win his fight here. The Mexico Guerreros were then eliminated in the semi-finals against the Cuba Domadores, without Curiel being used again.
