The rabbi's house in Scherwiller , a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in the French region of Grand Est , was built in the second half of the 18th century. The rabbi's former home at 8 rue du Giessen, right next to the synagogue built in 1861/62 , has been classified as a monument historique since 1985 .

Before the synagogue was built, a room on the first floor of the rabbi's house served as a prayer room.
