Johann Georg Schauberger

Johann Georg Schauberger (* around 1700 in Vienna , † 1751 in Brno ) was an Austrian sculptor , plasterer and painter of the late Baroque who worked in Moravia .

Life

The life data are unclear or not proven. The year of death is also given as 1744. Only the data from the Olomouc archives are saved. Johann Georg Schauberger was the son of Georg Schauberger from Vienna and was born around the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. In 1725 he became a master craftsman in Olomouc on August 16 and a citizen of the city on August 20. On November 26th, 1725, she married Anna Theresia, the daughter of the Olomouc sculptor Johann Sturmer . Together they had a son, Franz Karl. There is also evidence of brief ownership of a house at Böhmengasse 13 in 1728 in Olomouc. Around 1730 he moved to Brno.

Like most Moravian sculptors of his time, Schauberger was influenced by the Italian style of Baldassare Fontana . In addition to Olomouc, his works can be found primarily in the South Moravian region and in Brno.
