Racaille is a mixtape by German rapper Mortel , which was released digitally and physically on October 6, 2017 via his label Racaille Music Group . Originally it was supposed to be called Wesh Wesh as the successor to the previous mixtape . However, this was changed afterwards. The mixtape took 26th place in the German album charts.

General information

The name "Racaille" comes from French and means "rabble" or "pack".

Recorded and produced in album quality, Mortel emphasized that the content-related approach to the sound carrier gave him the reason to call Racaille a mixtape and not a “real” album.

This mixtape is the first physical release of the Racaille Music Group label founded by Mortel . It was released digitally, as a CD and as an Amazon box.

background

At the end of 2016, Mortel released a music video entitled Negative , announcing the Bantu EP at the same time . In addition, he achieved an immense increase in his level of awareness through the guest contribution on the single Should be so with Fler and Jalil . Mortel then accompanied the latter on the Vibe tour in early 2017 and had another guest contribution on their collaboration album Epic . During the tour Mortel released the song RDC , which was later also on the Bantu EP . Furthermore, Mortel had a guest contribution on the blood & - fund album JOOJ . On August 18, 2017, the promotional phase for Racaille finally started with the music video for PGS with Azad and Nimo . Mortel also appeared at the Hype Festival and the Openair Frauenfeld Festival . The second single Racaille Gang followed on September 8, 2017. The music video was shot by Chris Macari . On September 22nd, 2017, Mortel managed to musically "unite" the two rappers Fler and Sido again after 8 years with the release of the song Nie mehr broke . Less than a week after the mixtape was released, the song Malad was visualized with Massiv .

During the release phase, Mortel accompanied the rappers Nimo and Azad on their tours as a support act.

production

In addition to Mortel's in-house producers Phunc & Flek, the producers Broke Boys, Yung Brook, Simes Branxons, Boger, Rooq and Ayfa provided the beats for the mixtape. The beats of the Bantu EP come entirely from Phunc & Flek.

Phunc & Flek took care of the recording and the mixing, while the mastering was done by Volker Gebhardt.

Guest Posts

In contrast to the previous mixtape , Racaille features a number of guest posts by other artists. In the intro Mortel , Booba can be heard in a sample. Fler and Sido are represented on the song Nie mehr broke , Olexesh and Blut & Klassen on Dubai . Azad and Nimo make guest contributions on PGS , while Celo & Abdi are guest musicians on No Role . Marvin Game and Estikay are represented on the song Ganja Day . Malad is a collaboration with Massiv.

The Bantu EP features rappers Jalil, Orkan, Kalusha, Blund, Omik K., Peti Free, Telson, Savage Black and Mortel's brother Makabeli and his cousin Manio as guest contributions.

content

The mixtape is assigned to the street rap. In this way, the protagonist enhances himself and demonstrates his everyday life surrounded by crime, violence, drugs, fashion, money and status symbols. Among other things, he underlines his career (“ From nothing to something ”), his environment (“ Racaille Gang ”), his wealth (“ Never more broke ”), reports on drug use (“ Ganja Day ”) and the lower class (“ PGS ").

Musically, the beats are largely based on the trap-laden hip-hop trend of 21 Savage that was current at the time of publication, coming from the USA . The speed of the beats is more in the 70 BPM range than the 90 BPM range.

Reviews of the music media

The editor Skinny of rap.de wrote that “ drugs and violence ” are “ nothing new on the street ”. However, Mortel expresses his impressions “ so emotionally charged and angry ” that it inevitably carries you away. In addition, Mortel puts “ each of his illustrious feature guests in the shade ”, which is really impressive “ considering the guest list ”. Racaille is still a successful mixtape " despite the absence of the one big song ". You can't find any “ material to skip ” and with regard to Mortel's future “ with a bit of polish and the right environment [...] something great should come ”.
