Racers Track Club

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Racers Track Club (according to its own homepage: The Capital of Excellence ) is a sprint training group in Kingston , Jamaica , which was set up by Glen Mills from 2009 . It was founded to keep a top-class sports group in Jamaica and not lose it to American universities. In order to remain internationally competitive, great importance is attached to the fact that, as at American universities, very good foreign athletes can also train in the club. The Jamaican government would not be in a position to finance the top sport of track and field athletes in the same way. The head coach and director is Glen Mills.

Training conditions

16 people currently work for the training group, including five physiotherapists. Patrick Dawson is the technical director.

The club has its own plastic track in the stadium of the University of the West Indies in Kingston, which was made available free of charge by a German manufacturer in 2008. The track is identical to the track in the Berlin Olympic Stadium , as the club attaches great importance to optimal preparation under identical conditions.

financing

The association is largely dependent on sponsoring and fundraising. He also addresses emigrated Jamaicans. As well as the implementation of international sports festivals, at which our own top athletes such as Usain Bolt appear free of charge.
