Rachel Crotto (born December 25, 1958 in the USA ) is an American chess player and received the title of International Women's Champion from FIDE in 1978 .
Life
Even as a girl she was a very strong chess player. In September 1973 she played against ten opponents simultaneously at an exhibition . At the Chess Olympiad in Haifa in 1976 she fought for the USA on the second board in the final A. In 1978 she won the women's championship in the United States of America , after finishing second in the two years before. She defeated Nona Gaprindashvili in 1980 (the Malta Olympics) .
After 1986 she no longer competed in international tournaments.

Women's interzonal tournaments
Crotto took part in the 1979 women's interzonal tournament in Rio de Janeiro , won by Nana Iosseliani . She also played at the Bad Kissingen interzonal tournament in 1982 , where Nona Gaprindashvili won and she had to make do with last place.

From 1976 in Haifa to 1986 in Dubai she represented the United States' women's selection at the Chess Olympiads five times .
She played in Haifa in 1976, the 1980 Chess Olympiad in Valletta , Malta , the 1982 Chess Olympiad in Lucerne , the 1984 Chess Olympiad in Thessaloniki and the 1986 Chess Olympiad in Dubai.
In 1984 she won a silver medal in the individual ranking of reserve player in Thessaloniki.
