Rachel Pickup (* 15. July 1973 in London ) is a British actress .

life and career

Rachel Pickup was born in 1973 in London as one of two children to the actor couple Ronald Pickup and Lans Traverse. Her brother Simon Pickup is also an actor. She got a job at the National Youth Theater and completed her acting training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London.

Before graduating from RADA, Rachel Pickup was offered a leading role in the BBC miniseries No Bananas in 1996 . In German-speaking countries she became known through the 2001 biopic Victoria & Albert , in which she played Lady Henrietta Standish . In 2008 she played with her father in an episode of the ZDF crime series Inspector Barnaby .

Rachel Pickup has worked as a stage actress at the Rose Theater in Kingston and the Lyric Theater in Hammersmith, among others . Rachel Pickup received the MEN Best Supporting Actress Award for her performance in Time and the Conways , a play performed at the Royal Exchange Theater in Manchester . At the Old Vic Theater in London she was Cordelia in William Shakespeare's King Lear and Ophelia in Hamlet , for which she received the Bank of Scotland Herald Angel award .
