Rachel Rep (born December 13, 1967 in Albstadt ) is a German drummer and author .

Life

Rachel Rep worked as an international model before turning to drums. With her band Glow she won third place in the Emergenza music competition. Until the band Glow split up in 2004, Rachel Rep released three studio albums and several singles. Rep has been playing drums for the Farin Urlaub Racing Team since 2002 . She has endorsement contracts with Meinl ( cymbals ) and Yamaha ( drums ). In 2011 she was involved in the creation of the drummer cookbook published by Tom Schäfer and published by Musikmedia.

In 2013 her autobiographically inspired debut novel Panzerschokolade was published by Milena Verlag in Vienna. The first-person narrator Sharona Gadji tells in a quick and humorous style about her youth in Germany as a child of musicians from the Balkans, her modeling career and her eventual turn to drums. The ups and downs of being a musician are illuminated in a self-ironic way. A radio play of the same name by Rachel Rep was produced by WDR in 2014 , directed by Robert Steudtner and edited by Natalie Szallies.

Rachel Rep lives in Berlin .
