Radi Najdenow ( Bulgarian Ради Найденов * August 24, 1962 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian diplomat and politician.

Life

From 1976 to 1981 he attended a German-language high school in Sofia. From 1981 to 1983 he did his military service in the Bulgarian army. From 1983 Naidenov studied international relations at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, graduating in 1989 with a master's degree. From 1990 to 1991 he worked in the foreign policy department of the Bulgarian Peasant People's Union (BZNS). In 1992 he moved to the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense in Sofia as a foreign policy advisor. In December 1992, he joined the Bulgarian diplomatic service. First he worked as a consultant for Scandinavia , from February 1993 as a consultant for Germany in the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry.

In 1993 he attended further training courses at the Federal Foreign Office in Bonn and Berlin . From 1994 to 1996 he worked as an attaché and third secretary at the Bulgarian embassy in Switzerland in Bern . From 1997 he worked as third and later second secretary in the Department for Europe and North America in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was also secretary of the permanent Bulgaria- Bavaria commission . In 1999 he went to the Bulgarian Embassy in Berlin, Germany, as the first secretary . In 2001 he returned to Bulgaria as Deputy Defense Minister. From 2002 to 2005 he headed the cabinet of the Bulgarian Prime Minister Simeon von Sachsen-Coburg and Gotha . On September 13, 2005 he was appointed Bulgarian ambassador to Austria in Vienna . He held the office until 2012, with his seat in Sofia from October 2010. In April and May 2011 he was also an advisor in the political cabinet of the Foreign Minister. In 2011 and 2012 he was also secretary in the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry.

From 2012 to 2018 he was the Bulgarian ambassador to Germany in Berlin. At the same time, he was also the deputy chairman of the German-Bulgarian Forum eV From January 27 to May 4, 2017, he was the interim Bulgarian Foreign Minister.

On May 21, 2019, he was appointed Bulgarian ambassador to Switzerland. He has also been accredited as the Bulgarian ambassador for Liechtenstein since June 26, 2019 .

Personal

He is married with one child and belongs to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church . In addition to Bulgarian , he also speaks German , English and Russian .
