neo1 is a regional radio broadcasting in the cantons of Bern and Lucerne . The core area of the radio comprises the regions Emmental and Entlebuch . neo1 also reports from the Oberaargau regions , the eastern part of the Bern-Mittelland region and the Willisau region . The station started broadcasting in spring 2008, replacing Radio Emme . The transmitter is based in Langnau in the Emmental . In spring 2019 neo1 employed 23 people.
program
neo1 broadcasts pop / rock / oldies music 24 hours a day . The program is moderated during the day and sends messages on weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The focus of the program is on reporting on regional issues. The radio station is also known for broadcasting live all championship games of the Langnau ice hockey club SCL Tigers . In summer, neo1 is present at around ten wrestling festivals in the region and broadcasts them with regular live broadcasts.
Transmission area
The transmission area includes coverage area 14 “Emmental” as defined by the Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM). In addition to the entire Emmental and Entlebuch regions, this also includes the lines of the N6 and A1 motorways from Thun via Bern to Langenthal and the Willisau region. neo1 can be received via VHF, cable, internet and, since December 2018, also via DAB + on the layer Bern-Friborg-Solothurn. The activation in the DAB broadcasting network was preceded by a legal dispute. Radio Emme AG prevailed against the provider Swiss Media Cast before the Federal Administrative Court. The provider had previously refused to switch neo1 to DAB +. Reception via DAB significantly increased the terrestrial transmission area of neo1.
neo1 is a licensed radio broadcaster with a service mandate and a share of fees in accordance with Art. 38 of the Radio and Television Act RTVG. The station is financed from advertising income and from reception fees for radio and television.
Broadcasting chain
neo1 is part of a broadcasting chain launched by Radio Emme AG in 2008 . Another station was neo Zwei , which could only be received via cable, satellite and the Internet. neo Zwei was taken over by a new association, renamed Radio Heimatklang on February 1, 2012 and no longer belongs to Radio Emme AG.

The neo1 website features news from the region, an audio blog , an event calendar ("neogenda") and a web radio with a title ticker.
