Snellville is a city in Gwinnett County in the US state of Georgia , east of Atlanta . In 2000 it had 15,351 inhabitants. For 2006 a population of 19,983 was estimated. Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer was elected for 4 years in 2007. Snellville is a suburb of Atlanta that is growing in importance.

The South Gwinnett High School maintains a school partnership with the Goethe-Gymnasium (Bensheim) .
