RadlRing Munich

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The RadlRing Munich is a green cycling ring around Munich . It is around 150 kilometers long and crosses the suburbs of Munich at a distance of 10-25 km from Marienplatz , so it always runs outside the city limits. The cycle path is signposted, but not (no longer) complete and not unambiguous (sometimes only a RadlRing sticker is attached to a completely different signpost), so that you currently have to improvise in some places or use a map or GPS. Several route variants totaling around 170 km are included. The circular cycle path was planned by the planning association for the outer economic area of Munich on the occasion of the Federal Horticultural Show in Munich in 2005 . The "RadlRing Munich" should not be confused with the " Outer Radlring ", which is almost 50 km in length within the Munich city area.

route

The RadlRing does not have too great a gradient, runs largely away from major roads and is therefore easy to drive on. It passes several stations of the Munich S-Bahn and can therefore easily be traveled in stages. About three quarters of the route is paved, the remaining quarter leads over gravel paths and paths with a water-bound cover .

In the northwest it follows the Amper between Fürstenfeldbruck and Dachau . In the north of Munich between Dachau and Garching it runs in the flat gravel plain. There are interesting heather areas and mosses along the way. In the east there is a detour to the former BUGA site, today's Riemer Park . In the southeast you drive a bit along the Isar. In the south and west, the cycle path leads through the gently undulating old moraine landscape with its large forests.

Themed routes
