Raghunandan Swarup Pathak

Raghunandan Swarup Pathak (born November 25, 1924 in Bareli , † November 17, 2007 in Delhi ) was President of the Supreme Court of India . He was the son of Gopal Swarup Pathak , the former Vice President of India .

biography

After studying law at the University of Allahabad , he worked as a lawyer at the Allahabad High Court , where his main focus was on constitutional , tax and corporate law.

From December 21, 1986 to June 18, 1989 he was President of the Supreme Court of India and from 1989 to 1991 Judge at the International Court of Justice in The Hague .

In November 2005, Pathak was hired to investigate India's links to the oil-for-food program . On August 31, 2006, he published a 90-page report in which he accused former Foreign Minister Kanwar Natwar Singh of corruption.

Pathak died on November 17, 2007 at the age of 82 from complications from a heart attack.
