Raimo Pihl

Raimo Pihl ( Lauri Raimo Pihl; born October 28, 1949 in Suodenniemi , Sastamala ) is a former Swedish decathlete and javelin thrower .

In the decathlon, he broke the competition after the seventh discipline at the 1974 European Athletics Championships in Rome and was fourth at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

At the EM 1978 in Prague, he was eliminated in the javelin in the qualification.

Four times he was Swedish champion in javelin throw (1970, 1974, 1976, 1978) and once each in the decathlon (1976) and in the pentathlon (1974). Starting for Brigham Young University , he became NCAA champions in 1973 and 1975 .

He is married to the hurdler Helena Pihl .
