Raimund Lutz

Raimund Lutz (* 1950 ) is a German lawyer and one of the Vice Presidents of the European Patent Office .

biography

After completing his legal training, Lutz initially worked as a judge and public prosecutor in Munich . In 1986 he was seconded to the Federal Ministry of Justice for almost 3 years , where he was assigned to the field of patent and trademark law . From January 1989 Lutz held a leading position in the German Patent Office .

In autumn 1999 he moved to the Federal Ministry of Justice, where he was initially head of the department for patent and design law and from February 2000 head of the sub-department for the protection of intellectual property. On April 24, 2006, Lutz was appointed President of the Federal Patent Court. He also took over the chairmanship of the 1st Senate (Nullity Senate). He resigned from office at the end of 2010.

Since 2005, Lutz has also been a member of the Presidium of the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organization . On January 1, 2011, he was appointed Vice-President and headed the General Directorate Legal / International Affairs. Effective January 1, 2019, his successor was the previous sub-department head at the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, Christoph Ernst .

Lutz is married and has two children.
