Rain of Acid is a Finnish melodic death metal band from Vaasa that was formed in 2008.
history
The band was formed in 2008. In 2009 a first single was released, of which about 300 copies were released in the first few weeks. After several concerts, the debut album was recorded, mixed and mastered in spring 2010. As a producer was Tuomas Saukkonen from Before the Dawn and Wolfheart operates. The album was released in 2011 under the name Lost Souls . After the band had performed on a tour through Finland together with Before the Dawn, the recording of the second album Ghost Town began in 2012 . Saukkonen took over the production again, where he also worked as a session drummer during the recordings. The release took place in early 2014 via Violent Journey Records . In the same month, a music video was released for the song The Closure .
style
Björn Backes from Powermetal.de described the music on Lost Souls as modern Melodic Death Metal, which can be classified between the early works of Children of Bodom and the Gothenburg style. In addition, the album offers a "balanced mix of modern guitars and arrangements and classical quotations". In the more aggressive passages the group sounds like Dark Tranquility or In Flames , while the groovy passages are more reminiscent of Soilwork . However, through the use of “many contemporary breaks , wonderful, melodic changes and an extremely convincing set of dynamics”, Rain of Acid stands out from these bands. Jan Wischkowski from Metal.de saw a great Before-the-Dawn influence on Ghost Town , especially through the use of Tuomas Saukkonen as drummer and producer. Especially the melodies and the deep growls sounded similar. Overall, the album is marked by "Tempo changes, surprising twists and even a [r] unmanageable [n] amount of different tunes that something contrary to always slightly doomy monotony BEFORE THE DAWN's stand". Occasionally the band also use blast beats or Swedish melodic death metal.
