history
After Tuomas Saukkonen announced in 2012 that he would break up his previous bands Before the Dawn , Black Sun Aeon , Dawn of Solace and RoutaSielu , he concentrated on his new project Wolfheart from the end of the year. The dissolution of the previous bands took place on February 23, 2013. On the first album Winterborn , which was self-released in 2013, Saukkonen plays all the instruments himself, and he also does the vocals. Guest musicians include Mika Lammassaari from Eternal Tears of Sorrow and Mors Subita , who contributed guitar solos . In 2014 and 2015, national appearances were held with Shade Empire and Finntroll , a first European tour with Swallow the Sun and an appearance with Sonata Arctica in Tokyo . The group also took part in Scandinavian and other European festivals such as Summer Breeze 2014 . In 2015 the second album Shadow World was released via Spinefarm Records . At the beginning of 2016, the band began work on the third album in the Petrax Studios . The band was only a little active live in order to be able to concentrate on this. However, she was represented again at the Summer Breeze in 2016. In January 2017 they went on tour through Europe with Insomnium and Barren Earth . In early March 2017, Tyhjyy's third album was released via Spinefarm Records .
style
Stephan Möller from Metal.de wrote in his review of Winterborn that the music sounds less doom-heavy than that of Black Sun Aeon and has no Gothic rock influences . The album is atmospheric, emotional and melodic and is full of minor harmonies. The songs have a melancholy and wistful mood. Frank Wilkens from metalnews.de noted that Shadow World delivers both fast and melancholy moments. The music is suitable for people for whom " MOONSORROW are too lazy and IN FLAMES have not been snappy enough for a long time". The songs are mostly structured in a complex manner. Nana from burnyourears.de wrote in her review of Tyhjyys that the band calls their music "Winter Metal", which for them is "Nordic Death Metal paired with Doom and Black Metal in a melodic and at the same time cinematic complex". The singing is guttural , the lyrics are in English except for the Finnish title song .
