Rainer Baasner

Rainer Baasner (born May 5, 1955 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German specialist in German .

Life

In 1974 Rainer Baasner completed his Abitur in Mons, Belgium, and then studied German, sociology and political science at the University of Bonn . He finished his studies in 1983 when he with a dissertation on the community child to Doctor of Philosophy PhD was. That year he also became a research assistant at the university, the following year he became a university assistant. After receiving his habilitation in new German literature in 1990 with a paper on Abraham Gotthelf Kästner , he worked as a private lecturer .

In the following year, Baasner received the Heisenberg grant from the German Research Foundation , after which he worked as a guest lecturer at the University of Hamburg in 1992/1993 . In 1994 he was appointed the University of Rostock for Professor for new German literature. From 1999 to 2002 he also acted as managing director of the Institute for Multimedia, in 2000/2001 and 2005 he was managing director of the Institute for German Studies. He is also a member of the Lichtenberg Society and the Lessing Society. Baasner held the professorship in Rostock until 2008.
