For a short time he then coached SV Wacker Burghausen .
From 2000 to 2002 he was the coach of Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz and then 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 . Since September 27, 2004 he was the coach of FC Augsburg , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2006. His contract there ran until June 30, 2008. On July 1, 2009 he took over the coaching position at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt . After the 0: 3 home defeat against Thuringian rivals FC Carl Zeiss Jena , which put the club in acute danger of relegation, Hörgl, who had already been verbally criticized by some red-white supporters after weak performances by the team at several games, was Released from his coaching position on March 25, 2010.
