Rainer Vollath

Rainer Vollath (born December 28, 1966 in Marktredwitz ) is a German writer and journalist .

Life

Rainer Vollath grew up as the son of a teacher in the Upper Palatinate . After graduating from high school, he studied Romance studies (French and Spanish literature) and German at the universities in Munich , Paris and Kiel . He completed his studies with a doctorate on the Spanish writer Juan Goytisolo . He lives in Munich and in the south of France .

In 2010 his novel Zwei Lieben was published . He traces the life story of the homosexual Fritz Weiss, who was imprisoned in the Sachsenhausen and Flossenbürg concentration camps at the time of National Socialism and who fought for compensation after the war for the pain suffered in the Nazi camps.

Rainer Vollath's play The Angels. The abbey. The Erinyes. , a confrontation with the abuse scandal in a monastery, as well as his monodrama Mutti, Richie and the presenter , which is inspired by Patrick Süskind's The Double Bass , were published in 2015.
