Raio is a small settlement in the Far North District of Northland on the North Island of New Zealand .

geography

The settlement is located around 2 km south-southeast of Pukenui and 2 km west of Rangaunu Bay on the east side of the Aupōuri Peninsula . The Houhora Harbor extends 1 km north seaward. The New Zealand State Highway 1 runs through Raio and connects the settlement with the nearest larger town, Kaitaia , 34 km further south.
