Statistical information |
The Halych Rajon (Ukrainian Галицький район / Halyzkyj rajon ; Russian Галицкий район / Galitski rajon ) is one of the six city rajons of the western Ukrainian city of Lviv .
The name is derived from the name of Prince Daniel von Halytsch (again derived from Halitsch Castle ), it is located in the center of the city of Lemberg and includes the districts / districts:
- Seredmistja (Середмістя; Polish Śródmieście )
- Zytadel (Цитадель; Polish Cytadela )
- Sofijiwka (Софіївка; Polish Zofiówka )
- Snopkiw (Снопків; Polish Snopków ).
The Rajon in its current boundaries did not emerge until February 10, 2000 when the Verkhovna Rada decided to spin off the Sychiw district, which had largely grown from new buildings, as its own Sychiw Rajon . A predecessor of the Raion was established on April 5, 1951 and was named Lenin Raion , whose name was changed to Halych Raion on October 11, 1991 in the course of Ukraine's independence.
