Ralf Achenbach

Ralf Achenbach (* 1953 in Berlin-Wedding ; † January 1, 2015 in Berlin-Reinickendorf ) was a German football official .

Career

Achenbach has been involved full-time and voluntarily for Hertha BSC for decades . Initially, he worked for the amateur team, where, among other things, he managed the fortunes of the amateur football department as deputy chairman of the board, having previously worked as treasurer and also as a supervisor in the early 1990s. In particular, he sat at the side of Jochem Ziegert in the coaching bench at the final of the "Hertha-Bubis" in the 1992/93 DFB Cup season .

Achenbach later left Hertha BSC and took over as "team manager" the management of the soccer team of the Berlin AK 07 in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nordost . In the summer of 2012, the new club also achieved a “cup sensation” when the Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim was almost outclassed with a clear 4-0 win in the first round of the 2012/13 DFP Cup .

In November 2014 Achenbach was elected to the advisory board of the Northeast German Football Association, the highest body of the regional association.

On New Year's Day 2015, Achenbach died of a heart attack at the age of 61 that he suffered in his Berlin apartment.
