Ralf Aussem (born September 1, 1960 in Manheim ) is a German football player and coach . He grew up in Thum .

Career

The defender's attempt to start a bigger career at 1. FC Köln in the 1. Bundesliga failed after just one year. Only two minutes were granted to him on May 24, 1980 in the game at Werder Bremen (Cologne won 5-0). In the 88th minute, coach Karl-Heinz Heddergott replaced him for defender Dieter Prestin . In contrast, he made a name for himself in the 2nd Bundesliga at local rivals SC Fortuna Köln . He came to Fortuna in 1984 via the stations SC Viktoria Köln and Hannover 96 . For seven years, in which he completed 193 second division games, he was active for the club. A return to the upper house of German football was denied him. Ralf Aussem can look back on 318 second division games in which he scored 23 goals.

After his active time as a player, he coached the Fortuna Cologne team from January 2002 to June 2004 together with his colleague Dieter Epstein . On April 16, 2007, Aussem took over the coaching post of the former league club for the rest of the season.

In June 2007, Aussem was hired as the new assistant coach for the 2007/08 season by Rot-Weiss Essen in the Regionalliga Nord. In the 2009/10 season he formed a coaching duo with Uwe Erkenbrecher with two equal coaches. Then Aussem took over the second team from Alemannia Aachen for the 2010/11 season .

In September 2011, after Peter Hyballa's leave of absence for a game , Aussem took over the management of the first team. On April 1, 2012, Alemannia Aachen announced that Aussem would take over the first team as interim coach until the end of the season, after the previous head coach Friedhelm Funkel was on leave. In the remaining six games, he brought Aachen three out of a total of only six wins this season. On the day after relegation, Aussem was officially confirmed as coach for the upcoming third division season (2012/13). After the weak start to the 2012/13 season , however, he was released in early September 2012. In early 2013, after the resignation of Wolfgang Jerat, he became coach of FC Viktoria Köln with a contract until the end of the season. Before the last match day of the 2012/13 season, however, he was dismissed, after which he was U16 coach at 1. FC Cologne.
