Ralf Böcker (born April 4, 1962 in Hagen ), artist name Damian Maria Rabe , is a German saxophonist and clarinetist of ancient and modern jazz as well as composer and arranger .

Live and act

Ralf Böcker, as composer and author Damian Maria Rabe, learned his trade on the street. As a 16-year-old he toured Europe as a street musician.

Various band activities followed in the Ruhr area, later the founding of own groups: such as the Delta Mood Jazzband, Hot House, Ma Piroschka, Cannonball J., Hardbop Deluxe, Big Jazz.

With the establishment of his own recording studio, he produces jazz , klezmer , funk and audio book CDs. In Göttingen , Kiel and Hamburg , Ralf Böcker initiated, planned and moderated the radio program "JazzHausRadio", which is still broadcast successfully today. Ralf Böcker also works as a theater musician, e.g. B. at the Deutsches Theater Göttingen or at the Bad Hersfeld Cathedral Festival .

After founding the event and booking agency "magenta-music", Ralf Böcker u. a. Organizer of the 1st Göttingen Klezmer Festival in 1998 under the patronage of Rita Süssmuth (then President of the Bundestag). In 2009 and 2010 Ralf Böcker organized the “Hamburg International Klezmer Festival” in Hamburg. Magenta-music was appointed to the Hamburg State Music Council in 2010. Ralf Böcker established a jazz series at the Schillertheater Geesthacht in 2009, in which great musicians such as Ladi Geisler and Günter Fuhlisch performed. In 2010 he initiated another music series at the Cotton Club in Hamburg, supported by the City of Hamburg. Every two months in the Cotton Club under the name JazzPuls & Friends there are concert evenings with Hamburg jazz stars and up-and-coming talents.

Today Ralf Böcker is also a music teacher and pedagogue for saxophone , clarinet and flute , composer of many genres as well as band leader and freelancer for bands all over the republic, u. a. with Abi Wallenstein , Jessy Martens , Ladi Geisler , Abbi Hübner , Rocky Knauer , Jasper van't Hof , Trevor Richards , Torsten Zwingenberger , Peter "Banjo" Meyer , Brian Carrick, Günter Fuhlisch , Jo Bohnsack, Jan Fischer.
