Ralf Illenberger (born December 20, 1956 in Stuttgart ) is a German guitarist .

Life

Illenberger's first appearances took place in 1977, initially with duo partner Jürgen Kirsch. He later founded the duo Kolbe & Illenberger with the guitarist and singer Martin Kolbe , which released the album Waves in 1978 . The LP was nominated for the German Record Award. On September 3, 1979, the two were seen in the WDR program "Rockpalast". By 1987 Kolbe & Illenberger released six more albums and played around 1,000 concerts in 40 countries, some in collaboration with the Goethe Institute .

In 1987 Illenberger founded the band Ralf Illenberger's Circle . A CD of the same name was released in 1988 (top ten in Pulse magazine's annual list ! ). The title track of the next album Heart & Beat (1990) became a radio hit in the USA and reached the top position in three radio playlists. Soleil (1993) received a four-star rating in Downbeat and excellent reviews ("One of the best examples of the New Age genre", German: One of the best examples of the New Age genre. - Chicago Tribune ). The album Serenade was released in 1994 in collaboration with the multi-instrumentalist Büdi Siebert .

Ralf Illenberger has been working with the New Age singer Susan Osborn since 1991. They recorded several albums and completed five tours in Japan together. In his studio in Sedona (Arizona, USA) Illenberger has recorded the CDs Sedona , Still Waters (with David Friesen ), The Gateway , The Kiss and Emerge since 1995 . In 1997, the album was released to you I thought of Hannes Wader with Ralf Illenberger and Eberhard Weber (bass), waders interpretations of Schubert -Liedern. Illenberger arranged the original piano accompaniment for guitar and bass. With singer Lenedra Carroll (mother of singer Jewel ) he recorded the CD Beyond Words in 2005 and worked as a producer and arranger in 2006 for Kiana (a Hawaiian singer) and Simon Spire from New Zealand . In 2011 Acoustic Music Books published the music book "Best of Kolbe-Illenberger" with 13 notated works that were transcribed by the guitarist Peter Autschbach .

Ralf Illenberger has been playing in a guitar duo with Peter Autschbach since 2010. In 2012 they recorded their album No Boundaries in Illenberger's studio in Sedona , which they presented in many concerts in Germany, Italy and the USA. A cover story about the duo appeared in the journal Akustik Guitar . The album One Mind followed in 2014 , and Zero Gravity was released in 2017 .

In May 2014 Illenberger appeared again after 28 years together with his former duo partner Martin Kolbe, in connection with Kolbe's Bipolar Roadshow 2014, also with Peter Autschbach.

During his work as a composer, producer and guitarist Illenberger sold 400,000 LPs and CDs and gave concerts in 50 countries. So far he has produced 16 albums, including three top ten tracks in the USA and five albums in Europe, which earned him a Grammy nomination and a nomination for the German Record Award. Ralf Illenberger lives and works in Sedona , Arizona , in the USA .
