Miggelbrink studied Catholic theology, philosophy, German and pedagogy at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and received his doctorate in 1989 with a thesis on Karl Rahner's contribution to the doctrine of God. He then worked as a teacher at the Catholic grammar school "Engelsburg" in Kassel , northern Hesse . Since 2001 he has held the chair for systematic theology at the University of Essen (now: Duisburg-Essen).

theology

Numerous publications on various theological issues. In his dissertation, Miggelbrink examines Karl Rahner's transcendental- theological approach with revelatory theological approaches , especially those of Karl Barth. The habilitation thesis on God's Wrath conveys exegetical and systematic-theological thinking. In terms of content, both works strive for an appropriate speech from God.

In determining the human context of God's speech, Miggelbrink takes on elements of Raymund Schwager's dramatic theology and René Girard's mimetic theory and thus comes to a comprehensive theology of violence and victim.

In the wider context of ecumenical issues, publications were made on the topics of justification, ecclesiology, sacraments and, in particular, marriage teaching.

He is married, has three children and lives with his family in Warburg .
