Ralph Günther Mohnnau

Ralph Günther Mohnnau (born May 13, 1937 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a German author .

Career

Even at a young age, Mohnnau was particularly interested in medieval and expressionist poetry, painting and ballet. At the age of fourteen he wrote his first poems and newspaper articles. After graduating from high school , Mohnnau began studying Romance studies , law and philosophy , which he followed between 1956 and 1965 at the universities of Mainz , Freiburg and the Sorbonne in Paris . In the context of study trips, he toured Greece, Egypt, North America and the Canary Islands.

Act

Mohnnau's literary work includes above all poetry and spoken theater . In addition, he is engaged in music theater and has published a number of textbooks for this. In 1982 the rock musical H, for which Mohnnau wrote the lyrics, premiered under the direction of Manuel Lütgenhorst at the Ohio Theater, New York. The plot revolves around a young heroin addict from the Frankfurt scene. Mohnnau published his first volume of poetry, Gläserner Ginster , in 1954. His first novel The Dance of the Condor was published in 1997. He also translated Saphho and Akhenaten . He is also the editor of the “Artists and Painter Books” of Alpha Presse in Frankfurt.

Mohnnau claims to be a freelancer for New York Art and St. Ann`s in Brooklyn. His current places of residence are Frankfurt am Main and Paris.

Reviews

The World Literature Today points out that the poems Mohnnaus simultaneously stimulate and provoke, and are characterized by great intensity. His with Priameln provided Originalfrottagen , under the title "The day has a lot of eyes" appeared to solve Hödl when considering further internal images that link the own imagination with the myths of mankind.
