Ralph Hamilton

Ralph Waldo "Chuck" Hamilton (* around 1920; † after 1966) was an American jazz and rhythm & blues musician ( double bass ).

Live and act

Hamilton, who came from Texas, worked from the second half of the 1940s in Los Angeles a. a. with Lillette Thomas and Her Boys, Monte Easter , Sylvester Mike , Micky Cooper, Al Hibbler (with the Harry Carney All Stars), Maxwell Davis and Lowell Fulson , Pete Johnson and Jay McShann . He also accompanied blues and R&B vocalists such as Donna Hightower , Dolly Cooper , Smokey Hogg ("Keep A-walkin '"), Ray Charles ("Blues Before Sunrise") until the 1960s (mostly in the Maxwell Davis Orchestra ) , Big Joe Turner , Jimmy Witherspoon and Elmore James . In 1949, Webb had a number one hit on the Billboard R&B charts as a member of the Red Miller Trio with "Bewildered" . The discographer Tom Lord lists his participation in 63 recording sessions between 1945 and 1954. As a studio musician , he has also worked with The Coasters ("Riot in Cell Block # 9"), Percy Mayfield , Amos Milburn , Clarence Gatemouth Brown , Little Richard and BB King throughout his career .
