Career

Kreibich was in the years 1992 and 1993, initially twice in one part in the Junior World Championships, where he finished eighth and 14th place. In subsequent years, he rowed in the Austrian U23 quadruple sculls at the Nations Cup , the then unofficial U23 World Cup in rowing. In 1996 he started at short notice as a lightweight in the single, but without winning a medal. On the rowing ergometer he was able to set a lightweight world record in the Olympic distance with a time of 6: 06.1 min over 2000 m.

From 1999 to 2001, Kreibich prepared for a career in the open single by taking part in the Rowing World Cup , in which he first took part in the World Championships in 2001 and finished 7th. In the following years he achieved his best results on a global level with 6th place in the final of the rowing world championships in Seville in 2002 and in Milan in 2003 . However , he did not qualify for the 2004 Summer Olympics : In an Austrian elimination at the Rowing World Cup in Munich, he was defeated by Raphael Hartl by about 5 seconds in a direct duel, Hartl finally rowed to 17th place in Athens.

Kreibich then continued his career, but in the following years 2005 and 2006 only started at the Rowing World Cup, but not at the World Championships. It wasn't until 2007 that he attacked again and finished 14th at the World Cup in Munich . At the European Championships held shortly afterwards in Poznan, the first since 1973, he finally won the men's singles competition and thus his first and only international title ahead of Mindaugas Griškonis from Lithuania and the Bulgarian and later Azerbaijani Aleksandar Aleksandrov .

For the Summer Olympics in Beijing in the following year, Kreibich again failed to qualify. In the decisive qualifying regatta in Poznan, he missed the final, in which he should have finished third. In 2009 and 2010, Kreibich rowed again in the Rowing World Cup several times in the C and D finals, but could no longer achieve any top placements. At the European Championships in 2009 he also achieved a 9th place. After the 2010 season, Ralph Kreibich ended his international rowing career.

Ralph Kreibich started for the rowing club "Möve" Salzburg. At a height of 1.90 m, his competition weight was finally 82 kg.
