Ramazan is a Kurdish , Albanian , Bosnian and Turkish male given name of Arabic origin ( Arabic رمضان 'The hot month'), which also occurs in some other countries of the Islamic cultural area. The pronunciation with a voiced s goes back to the Iranian-Ottoman pronunciation of the d-sound in the Arabic word Ramadan. In Turkey, Iran and the Balkans, Ramazan is also the name of the fasting month of Ramadan .
