List of grape varieties

'Ramisco' is an indigenous red wine variety in Portugal and is grown almost exclusively in the Colares area near Sintra north of Lisbon on the Atlantic coast. A special feature of the area is that the vineyards are spared phylloxera due to the 2 to 3 meter deep sandy soil there , and that is why the variety is still cultivated without roots. In the 1990s, a planted vineyard area of almost 150  hectares was raised. However, due to increasing residential development, the area under vines is steadily decreasing.

Properties, wine

The late-ripening variety has plum-blue, small berries with a thick skin. The variety produces fragrant, dark-colored and strongly tannin-rich red wines with a medium alcohol content, which should be a few years before consumption, but can be stored for decades .
