Ramon Schack

Ramon Schack (born June 18, 1971 in Kiel ) is a German journalist .

Schack grew up in Bad Oldesloe and after graduating from high school, studied political science and Eastern European studies at the University of Hamburg . During his studies he worked for the program DAS! with Eva Herman at NDR . After a long stay in London, he has been working as a freelance journalist in Berlin since 2003.

His work focuses on the Middle East, particularly Iran , Eastern Europe, Islam, political extremism, the Islamic State, the open society and its enemies.

Schack writes for the NZZ , the Süddeutsche Zeitung , Die Welt , Berliner Zeitung , the Handelsblatt , the Financial Times Deutschland , Das Parlament , the Tages-Anzeiger and Zenith - magazine for the Orient . At the end of 2015 his book "Encounters with Peter Scholl-Latour - a personal portrait of Ramon Schack" was published, a reminder of shared experiences and a personal exchange with the famous world explorer. In 2017 Schack's eBook “Age of Disintegration” was published. Schack reported as a correspondent from Iran, Iraq, El Salvador, Ecuador, Russia, Ukraine and Ethiopia, among others. Since the summer of 2018, Schack has moderated the video podcast Impulsiv TV, in which he interviews guests from politics, business and culture. On September 9, 2018, Schack witnessed the murder of Nidal R. in Berlin-Neukölln.
