Ramzi Binalshibh ( Arabic رمزي بن الشيبة Ramzi ibn asch-Schaiba , DMG Ramzī b. aš-Šaiba , tooرمزي بن الشيبه Ramzi ibn asch-Schibh , DMG Ramzī b. aš-Šībh ; * May 1, 1972 in Ghail Bawazir, Yemen ) is an imprisoned Yemeni member of the terrorist organization al-Qaeda . He is accused of being a key figure in planning the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack . Alongside the Egyptian Mohammed Atta, who died in the attacks, he isone of the leading figures in the Hamburg terrorist cell .

Before September 11, 2001, Binalshibh applied several times in vain for an entry visa to the USA.

In September 2002, Binalshibh was in Karachi ( Pakistan arrested) after a shootout. He was then presumably extradited to the United States and detained in an undisclosed location without trial. In early September 2006 he was transferred to the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base detention center.

Binalshibh was tortured in the Detention Site Blue for 34 days. He did not provide any important clues, was sent to solitary confinement for two and a half years and then to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in early September 2006 . A CIA psychologist later attested him symptoms such as visions, paranoia, insomnia and attempts to harm himself. Binalshibh was on psychiatric drugs.

The CIA stated in August 2010 that it had videotapes of interrogations with Binalshibh.
