Randal "Randy" B. Crouch (born April 1, 1952 ) is an American country singer and multi-instrumentalist of the Red Dirt scene.

life and career

Randy Crouch was born in 1952 and grew up in West Texas, where he moved every few years in his youth. Initially, he began playing the piano , guitar and ukulele . He played in a band for the first time during his high school years. Since his debut work Colorslide , which was released in 1983, he has released a number of his own albums, including an unplugged album in 1998, but has not given up his band activity to this day and has been a permanent member of the Red Dirt Rangers for several years . He has also worked in a supporting role on some works by artists such as Lisa Perry , Jason Boland & the Stragglers or South 40 . In 2006, Crouch released a collaboration album with Bob Childers, who died in 2008 .

Crouch lives in Tahlequah , Oklahoma , in a house with no electricity. He sees himself as a protest musician . He counts the Beatles , the Rolling Stones , Jimi Hendrix and the bluegrass band New Grass Revival among his greatest idols . Crouch is often referred to as one of the best rock violinists , and he is also considered to be one of the decisive pioneers of red dirt music. Furthermore, his music is influenced by the so-called Tulsa Sound , a musical genre from Tulsa . As a multi-instrumentalist, Crouch not only plays the violin and guitar, he also masters the pedal steel guitar and other instruments. According to his website, Crouch has been nominated more than 20 times in the Oklahoma Music Awards. He has won awards as Entertainer of the Year (2005), Singer-Songwriter of the Year (2005), Singer of the Year (2006) and Steel Guitarist of the Year (2007). It was also inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame .
