The Rantzau paper mill was part of the Rantzau estate that was built in the 16th century in what is today the Schleswig-Holstein district of Plön . The purpose of the building was the interest in the export of paper.

The paper mill was originally built over a river, the Kossau . It included a farm, a house and a bakery, some of which are now inhabited. The entire area of the Rantzauer paper mill comprises approx. 30 hectares of forest and pasture areas.

The property is now on the federal highway 430 between Lütjenburg and Rantzau . Only old floor plans and three different waterfalls, one of which used to have a water wheel , are still reminiscent of the old paper mill.
