Raoul André

Raoul André , pseudonym Jean Le Vitte , (born May 24, 1916 in Rabat , Morocco ; † November 3 or November 4, 1992 in Paris or La Garenne-Colombes , France ) was a French make- up artist , cameraman , film director and screenwriter .

Life

André, son of a colonial official in the Protectorate of Morocco , grew up in Rabat. He turned to film after his attempts to study law or literature failed. He worked as a makeup artist, cameraman and assistant director until he made his first feature film in 1947 as a director for the film Le village de la colère . He then advanced to become a specialist in cheap and shallow action films and rogue comedies , including some films with Eddie Constantine .

He was married to the actress Louise Carletti (1922–2002) from 1955 , his daughter is the actress Ariane Carletti (* 1957).
